The Traveling Sketchbook Series

Paris

Get ready to sketch, paint, and fall in love with Paris.

Starts March 17, 2025

For three weeks, Paris is yours. You’re sketching it, soaking it in, letting it flirt shamelessly with your creativity. And no, you don’t need a plane or train ticket. Your sketchbook is your passport.

A mix of juicy assignments, videos, and surprises that will pull you deep into the city’s artistic heartbeat. You’ll follow unexpected trails through Paris, drawing and painting as you go, filling your pages with color, movement, and stories. You’ll meet fellow artists, swap inspiration, and gather bits of Parisian magic that will stay with you long after the course ends.

And because I believe in happily ever after, you get lifetime access. Paris doesn’t ghost. Neither do I.

What you’ll get (and then some!)👇

  • A Certain Famous Sweet Spot

We’re kicking things off somewhere decadent. A place where people line up, wallets open, ready to surrender. Let’s just say, one bite, and you’ll understand why.

  • An Extravagant Hotel With Stories to Tell

Think gold, chandeliers, and people who don’t check the price tag. It has secrets, it has history, and—oh—the things that have been auctioned off here. You’ll never guess.

  • A Wildly Improper Dance That Still Shocks Paris

Let’s just say, some Parisians have been kicking up trouble (literally) since the 1830s. We’ll shimmy through its history, and maybe, just maybe, you’ll be tempted to try a move or two.

  • Floors Worth Falling For

Paris isn’t just above you—it’s beneath you. And we’re not talking about history, we’re talking about actual art at your feet. Look down. Then look again.

  • A Hidden Atelier Where Time Stopped

A place where creativity has been stitched, pressed, and feathered into history. Secret drawers, forgotten treasures, and a space that shouldn’t exist—but does.

  • A Certain Over-the-Top Palace

Yes, that one. But we’re not just showing up to gawk. We’re getting lost in a way that makes you wonder if you should’ve been born into royalty.

  • A Restaurant That Breaks the Rules

Ever eaten somewhere so cool, so rebellious that the check wasn’t even printed on paper? Yeah, me too. You’ll want to hear this one.

  • A Tiny Object With a Big Story

You’ve seen them. You just never knew they changed history. Prepare to be obsessed.

  • A Woman You Won’t Forget

She was bold, eccentric, and probably too much for her time. She also had a tiny, elaborate obsession that will make you see Paris differently.

  • The Love of Your Life (You Just Don’t Know It Yet)

Paris has a reputation—and trust me, it’s earned. Even if you’ve never set foot here, you’re about to be ruined for every other city.

  • Zoom, Darling, Zoom

One live Parisian deep dive with your fellow art lovers. Can’t make it? Watch the replay, but fair warning—you’ll have FOMO.

  • Oh-la-la...

Feel that? That’s the thrill of knowing something ridiculously good is coming. Paris is waiting. Are you? 😏✨

This course is not for you if… 🚫

  • You think Paris is meh (Wait… who even are you?)

  • You have zero curiosity and would rather stay exactly the same forever

  • You’re only here for hardcore, technical drawing lessons (nope, not that kind of party)

  • The thought of an online course makes you break out in hives

  • You’re a total beginner who has never even touched a paintbrush

  • You have zero time for the next three months—not even to pop into the course and peek at all the goodness inside

  • You’ve already bought 4,289 courses and never finished (or even started) a single one. Don’t do that again. Seriously.

Still here? Good. You’re in the right place.

    Cynthia

  • “Every new assignment feels like opening a present! I also loved to see what everyone is making in the Facebook group/Instagram. • “What delightful positive vibes, so much inspiration and talented fellow artists. Amidst them, I sometimes feel small, yet Marenthe makes it seem perfectly okay. • “I didn’t think my work would be good enough to participate and didn’t want to put myself in a position where I would fail. I was quite worried about it. have learnt so much about methods and little-known topics and events in Paris. I feel that I’ve grown as an artist."

Q&A – The No-BS Edition

How long is the course, and is it live?

It’s three weeks long and yes, it’s love. I mean, live. As in, live online—which means you can join from your couch, your favorite café, or a dreamy Parisian daydream.

I’m going on vacation. Can I join later?

Absolutely! You have lifetime access, so start whenever you want. Paris will wait.

I’ve been to Paris a million times. Will I still get something out of this?

Yes! Imagine recognizing places you’ve been and finally turning them into art. It’s like walking into a memory and sketching it into something unforgettable.

I’m a total perfectionist. And kinda scared. Is this for me?

Look, you have two choices: Stay small, wrapped in a cozy little fear blanket, or take the risk, have fun, mess up, learn, and GROW. One of those options sounds way more fun.

I’m not on Facebook. Can I still join?

Yes! Facebook is completely optional. The course itself? 100% FB-free and fully accessible.

Are the videos live?

Nope, they’re pre-recorded, so you can watch them whenever you want. Pajamas and a glass of Bordeaux? Totally acceptable.

Is this a brand-new course or a rerun?

This course first appeared inside The Art Beat Club as 60-Minute Art Beat Magic, but now? It’s bigger, better, and on a whole new platform. Oh, and it’s finally in Dutch too. 🎉

Meet your teacher, Marenthe

I’m an artist, just like you.

But here’s the deal: I never go anywhere without my art journal. For 30 years, it’s been tucked under my arm as I’ve wandered through cities, secret alleyways, flea markets, and hidden cafés all over the world. Travel isn’t just something I do—it’s who I am.

I’ve spent 30+ years making art, chasing inspiration, wrestling with perfectionism, and procrastinating like a champ. I’ve won awards all over the world, worked with high-end clients, built a successful design studio and a Dutch stationery brand, and founded The Art Beat Club—all while occasionally getting stuck, doubting myself, and then getting over it and making magic happen anyway.

My work has even been featured in The Hundred Most Visionary Artists of the World by Phaidon Press. Which is cool. But honestly? My biggest win is knowing that art journaling has had my back through all of it—every high, every low, every “what the hell am I doing” moment.

And now? I want to help YOU tap into that same creative joy. Because making art isn’t just about technique—it’s about finding your voice, playing without fear, and making something that’s 300% YOU.

So, grab your sketchbook. Paris is waiting.

XO, Marenthe 🎨💋✨
